Background
A Tier 1 Investment Bank wanted to place the user at the centre of a completely new FX trading application. Ultimately, the solution needed to enhance how clients engage with the bank, and what it is that really encourages them to trade.
Innovation
Adobe Flex is a relatively new technology which is gaining ground as a Rich Internet Application (RIA) development platform. The applications that came before RIA technology - mainframe applications, desktop applications, HTML-based web applications - all have very unique styles of programming. Mainframe applications make heavy use of powerful, expensive server computing resources and provide mostly text-based, non-interactive applications on inexpensive terminals. User Experience - We created a visual and intuitive interface that integrates real time pricing with rich multimedia and provides users who are more familiar with traditional trading systems with a game-changing experience.
Outcome
Delivering visually appealing trading systems, with additional sophisticated tools such as portfolio monitoring, trade execution and market risk analytics, meant traders made faster and more accurate business decisions. Mthree successfully delivered on time and budget through combining off and onshore capability. Our client took advantage of MThree’s Adobe Flex center of excellence which was formed from our Chennai development center - This impressively saved the client up to 45% of development cost.

Background
Major Investment Bank - A business-critical project (front to back) encountered major problems -
The project was stopped twice and with each incident the budget had to be doubled and the project restarted.
After a failed User Acceptance Testing (UAT), the business sponsors asked Mthree to provide a senior consultant to review the project before investing any further resource effort on the project.
Scope
As an independent consultancy, Mthree reviewed the full project life cycle covering the following areas:
- Adherence to structured methodology in documentation and processes.
- Project initiation, Scope definition, business case justification and benefits.
- Project Management structure, plans, etc.
- Business Analysis, requirement gathering.
- IT development
- Test strategy, User acceptance testing
- Project governance, Steering committee and Project working group structures, Issues, risks and change management.
Methodology used
- Interview all the key stakeholders
- Review project documentations
- Review minutes of key meetings
- Review IT team structure, technology and release management.
- Present findings to senior business sponsors.
- Present recommendations and lessons learnt to make sure the same problems are not replicated on future projects.
Outcome
Lessons learnt from the review, which will enable the client to create critical changes needed in order to ensure future success of the project/s.
